Things I said Alhumdulillah for in March 2020…

Alhumdulillah means “All Praise is due to God” and are the words uttered by a Muslim when he/she is expressing gratitude to Allah. I find myself saying this numerous times a day and this post is a collection of moments when I have said Alhumdulilah during the past month.

Things I said Alhumdulillah for in March:

  1. Master Z learning to ride a bike! We weaned him off his trainer wheels during our daily evening rides and he has learnt to go all by himself! So proud of him!
  2. When a small and probably what you thought to be quite insignificant dua you made, not really thinking anything of it, is granted, and the realisation of that when it hits you.
  3. Schools being declared shut, 2 weeks prior to the Spring holidays. Around mid-March, the effects of COVID-19 had spread across the globe, and this is when UAE started taking a huge amount of precautions on a daily basis to reduce the impact of this virus.
  4. Living in the UAE. I have never been so thankful to be living in a country that I feel completely safe in, and really commend their “Stay At Home” campaign and strict rules they have put in place to allow everyone to practice Social Distancing.
  5. Thankful for having to homeschool an FS2 child, rather than an older child with exams! Hats off to you parents that are home schooling older kids, and having to learn Algebra all over again!
  6. Face masks and chocolate bars! Aaah.
  7. Creating a DIY Milk Carton Mosque craft for Ayeina.com. There’s 30 more craft ideas based on Islamic books there too!
  8. My husband, Mr Z. These are scary times we are living in currently with the spread of the virus and numerous other worries of how this is going to impact almost everything else, but having my husband be the rock of support that he is, I couldn’t ask for more.
  9. This Mother’s Day video campaign that I am so happy to have been included in by Al Qamar Sweets.
  10. Watching the thunder and lightning storm with Mr Z and my boys as we gave each other the tightest cuddles.
  11. The burial of a family member, 3 days after his road accident in Dubai (not related to Coronavirus). May Allah grant him Jannah In sha Allah.
  12. The countdown to Ramadan being less than 30 days away, Alhumdulillah!
  13. Family video chats to my parents and baby brother, Mr A, in the UK.
  14. Having Mr Z work from home, even if he is taking over my Dressing Table!

These are just a few of the many times I uttered the words Alhumdulillah this month. Check out what I was thankful for last month here. Also, here’s a list of what I was thankful for in March last year! What are you thankful for? Feel free to share your moments in the comments section below.
