My Thoughts

Things I said Alhumdulillah for in January 2019…

Ahumdulillah means “All Praise is due to God” and are the words uttered by a Muslim when he/she is expressing gratitude to Allah. I find myself saying this numerous times a day and this post is a collection of moments when I have said Alhumdulillah during the past month.

Things I said Alhumdulillah for in January:

1. Celebrating Little Z’s first birthday! Yes, he just turned ONE and I’m still in denial about it. Here’s the letter I wrote to him on his birthday, and here’s all the details of his “Wild One” themed birthday party.

2. Not having to take monthly #FlatLayLittleZ photos anymore, because now that he is walking, he refuses to sit still for a single second!

3. Settiling back into the school routine. Boy was it hard, especially after returning from such a lovely family holiday to Georgia, but we have managed to do it!

4. Weekends! After a week of school and work, we have truly come to appreciate weekends even more. We love to spend time bonding as a family and having fun, whether it’s taking whacky photos in the Museum of Illusions, gaping in awe at the new Imagine show, A Pirate’s Tale, at Dubai Festival City or stuffing our faces with Churros at the DSF Market OTB! Have you been to any of the above mentioned yet?

5. Appreciating how far I have come thanks to the #10yearchallenge. Alhumdulillah. Did you take part in the world wide trend?

6. The Mummy On My Mind blog turning 4! This platform has opened up so many opportunities for me, and I am so very grateful for all the support YOU have given me. Thank YOU.

7. Surviving solo parenting days. The key is to plan ahead, and eat lots of chocolate when the kids aren’t looking.

8. Dubai Winter. Yes, it’s chilly but I know I will miss you terribly during the summer months so I’m living it up right now. This little meme I created sums it up though. Hehe!

9. Realising there’s less than 100 days to go to Ramadan! And this time I have promised myself to be far more organised in preparing Ramadan related activities for the boys! Ideas are more than welcome.

10. Trying Regga for the very first time. It’s an Emirati speciality, pretty much like crepes, and I don’t know why it’s taken me almost 5 years to hear about it or taste it. I blame Mr Z for this travesty. The egg and cheese is delicious to have during winter and nothing like a Nutella Regga to cure sweet tooth pangs.

alhumdulillah january
