Alhumdulillah means “All Praise is due to God” and are the words uttered by a Muslim when he/she is expressing gratitude to Allah. I find myself saying this numerous times a day and this post is a collection of moments when I have said Alhumdulillah during the past month.

Things I said Alhumdulillah for in April:

  1. Having Mr Z return from his trip to India, followed by my parent’s arrival the next morning to see Little Z.
  2. Watching my parents bond with the kids through play and laughter. It was also nice being slightly off duty as my mum took over and practically kidnapped Little Z for the time that she was here.
  3. Celebrating the arrival of Little Z with our family and friends with an intimate dinner gathering.
  4. Spending some one on one time with Master Z for a change, which I have missed terribly after giving birth to Little Z. In general, Master Z has also been quite a delight to be around (apart from the odd tantrum of course), and he seems so grown up.
  5. Enrolling Master Z for swimming lessons. He’s had a couple so far, and though there have been a few tears and the fear of going underwater, he is doing really well. Super proud Mummy moment, as I peer through the tinted windows to see him learn with his swimming instructor during his lessons.
  6. Little Z undergoing his circumcision procedure, and although having to do it twice due to a complication the first time, it was successful and has healed really well.
  7. Reading books. How I had forgotten the wonderful feeling that reading gave me, and I am hoping to make sure this habit stays this time, as I was quite the book worm in my younger years.
  8. Finding Paw Patrol gift items for Master Z’s birthday next month, as per his wish. If you are a parent, you will know the dread of not being able to find exactly what your child has envisioned in his peculiar little head, so managing to get everything has been a relief! I have also made him a dinosaur themed birthday card, which you can see here. I am so excited to see his face light up on his birthday!
  9. Having my parents move into a new home back in the UK. It will be strange that when I next visit my home town, I will not walk into the same neighbourhood or the house that I stayed in whilst growing up, nor walk up and down the same stairs, or even see the wall painting I did in my bedroom of the Burj Khalifa. However, I know this new home is a much better fit for them now, and I am excited to be making new memories there when I visit next In Sha Allah.
  10. Having a bit of a blogging break, and kind of enjoying it. Though it wasn’t exactly planned, and I have still been posting on social media, I haven’t been as active on this platform itself, due to focusing my energy else where this month. It also didn’t help that my laptop stopped working so I am currently writing this from my husband’s work laptop which he has kindly offered to me to use. Hopefully, May will bring back my Mojo.
  11. Going away on our very first staycation as a family of four! Oh my the amount of luggage that is to be carried for a two night stay is insane!
  12. Mentally preparing for Ramadan. Can you believe it will already be here so soon?! I am trying to create ways to get Master Z excited about the month too, so any tips in that department are very much welcome!

These are just a few of the many times I uttered the words Alhumdulillah this month. Check out what I was thankful for last month here. Also, here’s a list of what I was thankful for in April last year! What are you thankful for? Feel free to share your moments in the comments section below!
