Mummy Life / My Thoughts

Remember When You Thought You Had It Bad…

Do you remember? Remember when you thought you had it bad?

When your food got cold because you had spent too long trying to get a good Instagram shot of it?

When your favourite TV series finished and you screamed in agony because you didn’t know what to do with yourself until the next season aired?

When the drilling noise from your neighbours house woke you up far too early in the morning, on a WEEKEND?

When the fireworks kept you awake all night on Guy Fawkes Night?

Except now you would welcome those scenarios back into your life with open arms because…

Now your food gets cold and colder still as you battle with your child to finish their meal.

Now you don’t have time to watch the latest season of Game of Thrones, you are too busy being forced to sing along with Barney the Dinosaur.

Now your child wakes you up by jumping on top of you at ridiculous o’clock, on the WEEKEND!

Now your child’s teething wails or mid slumber kicks keep you up all night.

Do you remember? Remember when you thought you had it bad?

When you overspent on online shopping, because you spent hours scrolling through ASOS?

When you were too embarrassed to still have to ask your parents for bus fare?

When you cried because your parents didn’t want to buy you another gold fish, after what happened to the last one?

When you fell sick and had to be taken care of by your mother, as she smothered you with home made remedies?

Except now you would gladly relive those moments because…

Now you realise all your money is going into buying nappies and clothes that little children grow out of a second after they are bought.

Now you come to realise the cost of education and could do with all the extra pennies/fils.

Now you have to take care of a little human being, one that actually talks back at you!

Now you have to take care of your sick child whilst also suffering a high fever and vomiting bouts yourself.

Do you remember? Remember when you thought you had it bad?

When you spilt hot chocolate on your favourite dress and you were distraught for a week?

When your university project team members would not stop droning on and on, irritating you with every word uttered?

When that clingy friend would not give you enough space?

When you were on a long haul plane journey and cursing the crying child under your breath who showed no signs of stopping?

Except now you would kill to be facing those problems again because…

Now your clothes almost always have baby sick or poo on them, even your once-favourite ones, and you don’t have the time or energy to sulk about it.

Now you crave for adult conversation. Riveting, thought provoking, political conversation. Say anything, ANYTHING, just do not mention babies please!

Now your clingy child will not even let you use the toilet in peace.

Now that unsettled crying child you are trying to soothe on the plane journey to a foreign country belongs to you.

Do you remember? Remember when you thought you had it bad? Remember the days before parenthood struck?

hehehe! This made me chuckle….
As bad as some moments of parenting are, I wouldn’t change anything at all….

Haha yes, absolutely agree! Isn’t it funny how trivial those things seem in comparison to keeping a little human alive! But absolutely wouldn’t have it another way!

Oh Zeyna, agree with everything! Why can we never be satisfied with what we have, because along the road, you never know what’s coming.

Absolutely Tarana, those things we stressed over sound so trivial now! Parenting is surely the most challenging tasks of all, but the most rewarding at the same time!

This is spot on Zeyna, my mom used to tell me back then when I was still single and I was being a pain she would always say “been there done that so better listen to me!” and she was right

Hahaha every bit of statement is true.
If I had not deleted my “single life” blog I would die of embarrassment at all my issues.
So I laugh when my 9yrs old says “This is just the worst day ever!”

Hahaha yes, we used to be so good at exaggerating when we were little eh?! And hang on, I would love to read this “single life” blog you had!! Bet it has quite a few hidden gems in there! haha!
