Lunch at Serendipity3 – Review…

Last weekend, before we hit the Super Sales, we decided to tuck into a meal at Serendipity3, located in Dubai Festival City. Because let’s face it, hell hath no fury like a HANGRY (Hungry and Angry) shopper! Having heard many great things about one of New York City’s most beloved eateries, famous for it’s decadent desserts, I was pretty excited to try it out for myself.

Walking in, I was transported to a whimsical setting of pastels and Instagrammable tile work, as well as fluffy clouds and hanging umbrellas from the ceiling. Every angle is worth a picture, and the overall setting is airy and bright. We picked a spot next to the french doors, overlooking the Dubai Festival City water front, and delved into our large sized menus.

Drinks and Starters

Whilst my husband took a swig of his usual choice  of Lemonade and Master Z a glass of Orange juice, I decided to be a little more adventurous and picked the Frozen Hot Chocolate (AED 35 for a Regular size). It is exactly what it says. Chocolate goodness, but frozen as you sip it through a straw and try your best to avoid a brain freeze. Being a chocoholic, this drink was right up my alley.  Perfect for the already arrived Dubai summer heat, it is a drink of pure indulgence.

For starters, we opted for the Chicken Cheeze Balls (AED 39). This one seemed to be a particular favourite with Master Z as he kept stealing mine and asking for more. These cheesy chicken balls are not only huge and filled with shredded chicken and stringy cheese, but the accompanying Marinara sauce is deliciously rich.

We decided to not have any more starters, and looking at the size of the mains, you will understand why!

For Master Z, we ordered the Kid’s Burger from the Kids Menu, which is a smaller version of Serendipity3’s Mega Burger. It is smothered in cheese and comes with a choice of fries or salad. It is a pretty good portion, and Master Z gave it his seal of approval by munching off huge chunks off his burger.

In true American fashion, I opted for the Serendipitous Foot Long Chicken Hot Dog (AED 64) with roasted tomato and haystack onion, served with seasoned fries. I think it is safe to say that I have never had to open my mouth this wide for a meal, but I actually managed to finish it off! Although the chicken hot dog was only lightly seasoned, the sauce brought the entire dish together. Serendipity3 do a great range of other hot dogs too, for example the Nacho Hot Dog, Texas Style Hot Dog and Asian Hot Hot Hot Dog.

My husband went for the Grilled Lamb Chops (AED 155), served with mashed potato, saute vegetables and demi-glace. Though the dish is on the pricey side, the portions are as huge as my entire hand and well justified. It would make a great sharing dish, unless you are someone with a huge appetite. Mr Z enjoyed his meal very much, and after having taken a few bites, I completely agreed with him, especially the creamy mash.

As much as the dessert menu was enticing, and I had drooled over the dessert counter at the front of the eatery prior to my meal, my stomach could not handle any more food, and sips of my Frozen Hot Chocolate had to suffice as both my drink and my dessert. I think for my next visit, I will be more wise with what I choose so that I can leave more room for dessert, or simply visit for the dessert itself!

I very much look forward to revisiting Serendipity, and highly recommend it if you are in the mood for an indulgent American meal. And so we left Serendipity3 with full tummies and huge smiles on our faces, ready to face the chaos that was the Super Sale.

Have you visited Serendipity3? What are your recommendations of what we should try next time?

You can visit Serendipity3 in either of it’s 2 branches in Dubai: Dubai Festival City and City Walk. You can also stay up to date with their latest offerings by following them on Facebook and Instagram.

Note: I was invited to try out the Serendipity3 menu, however all views and opinions shared above are honest and solely my own.

I have been to Serendipity in New York and here in Dubai as well. I must say that I was blown over by their standards of quality & service.
