Alhumdulillah Series

Things I said Alhumdulillah for in December 2015…

Alhumdulillah means “All Praise is due to God” and are the words uttered by a Muslim when he/she is expressing gratitude to Allah. I find myself saying this numerous times a day and this post is a collection of moments when I have said Alhumdulillah during the past month.

Things I said Alhumdulillah for in December:

  1. Meeting new people is always one to be grateful for. Talking about different experiences or view points can never get old, in my opinion.
  2. For still raising a good kid, even though you are a naughty parent sometimes. Read some of my naughty parent confessions here.
  3. Discovering that Baby Z does not have a temperature after his vaccinations. Of course I still gave him a dose of calpol just to be on the safe side.
  4. For Baby Z’s energy. Funny how I appreciate this so much more after Baby Z is feeling down from his vaccination, but it sure is an eye opener as to how contagious and great his energy is, and how vital it has become in our lives.
  5. Having my parents and baby brother back in Dubai for a short holiday. Yipee!
  6. For having a rather “well-behaved” toddler in front of others. Though he is quite the monkey at home, at least he puts up an appearance of being shy in front of others. Works to my advantage!
  7. Celebrating the Hakiko of my niece, Baby A, with family and friends at India Palace. It was such a lovely little event, and Baby Z wore a three piece suit for the very first time. I can not tell you how many times I wanted to squish his cheeks that day!
  8. For the odd rain shower in Dubai. “Winter” in Dubai is a rarity, so when it arrives, it’s time to celebrate with my pair of Uggs and a jacket! Oh the joy! (Check out one of my winter OOTDs here!)
  9. For nature, untouched by man. Dubai has imitated nature by creating many man made wonders, but once in a while setting our eyes upon natural landscapes such as Jebel Jais reminds us of Allah’s mighty power. The view from the highest mountain in UAE is truly breathtaking.
  10. For Mothers. Having my mother live a thousand miles away means that when she IS around, it is a blessing I cherish very much. Because let’s face it, mothers know the cure to ALL problems and just make everything right. I can only hope that I can be the same mother to Baby Z as my mother is to me. (P.S. My father and brother are of course just as special…but being a mother now, makes me truly appreciate my own a lot more.)
  11. For all the blessings 2015 has brought. In sha Allah, 2016 will bring much more happiness and success to my family, as well as yours.

These are just a few of the many times I uttered the words Alhumdulillah this month. Check out what I was thankful for last month here. What are you thankful for? Feel free to share your moments in the comments section below!
