Being a mother during Ramadan can be incredibly challenging. Having to entertain those energetic bunnies whith very little energy yourself, is no easy feat. At the same time, trying to instill the spirit of Ramadan in your children so they are just as excited about it as you are is also another hurdle that we parents face.

Since Master Z has turned 4 this year, he is very much aware of our habits and I am always looking for ways to get him intrigued about Ramadan, the yearly month of fasting and one of the five pillars of Islam. So this year, I have partnered up with Pretty Paper Studio to create some printables that will get your kids involved in celebrating and keeping track through this special month of Ramadan.

Below is a snapshot of the printables that I have created and how they can be used…

1. Ramadan Mubarak Banner

   Beautify your home with this Ramadan Mubarak Banner. This 7 page printable has all the letters to spell out Ramadan Mubarak, which you or your kids (under adult supervision) can cut out, thread and use to decorate. Simply tie it together with some string and hang it above the dining table, or outside your front door, to spread the happiness.

   

2. Ramadan Countdown Calendar

   “How many days till Eid?” Ever get asked this question from your children? Well now you can simply point them towards  the Ramadan Countdown Calendar to help them tick off how many fasts they have completed, and how many more there are to go before the celebration of Eid…and most importantly the Eid Gifts! hehe!

   

3. Ramadan Checklist

   This one is for the older or more independent kids who you want to encourage to keep track of their good habits during Ramadan. After completing their daily tasks like fasting, salah, learning a dua, they can simply tick each of these off their checklist, and keep an eye on their daily progress.

   

4. Ramadan 3D Cut Out Lantern

   Why not add to the beautiful banner by letting your kids create their very own lanterns. A good afternoon activity when your own energy flame is flickering, this activity encourages your children to get creative by colouring or painting their very own design, as well as cutting and sticking it into shape to create a 3D Lantern to decorate their homes with. Print out as many of these as you or your kids would like!

   

5. Ramadan Placemat

   Do you kids need encouraging or reminding to recite their duas at the time of making and breaking their daily fast? We have a ritual of saying the dua out loud as a family before breaking our fast, so the little ones can repeat it after us. This placemat ensures they can read the duas with you in a fun manner, that can be kept under their plates and even laminated to ensure they don’t get grubby with Rooh Afza stains! 😛
