Palmer’s Olive Oil Formula Shampoo and Leave in Conditioner – Review…

Palmer’s UAE made three huge haircare range launches at the start of this month: The Olive Oil Range, The Raw Shea Butter Range and The Manuka Flower Honey Range. I have already tried (and loved) the Raw Shea Butter range, which you can read more about here, so this post is going to be all about the Olive Oil Formula Range.

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been washing my hair with the Olive Oil Formula Shampoo, following it up by the Olive Oil Formula Leave in Conditioner. I remember that roughly this time last year, I had tried out four different formulas of body lotions, and the Olive Oil formula was the clear winner for me, as stated in my review (read it here) due to it’s fresh and almost citrusy scent, as well as incredibly hydrating feel. Therefore, I was very excited to try out more from the Olive Oil range, and had some pretty high expectations too.

The Palmer’s Olive Oil Formula Smoothing Shampoo

This shampoo promises to smooth frizzy hair, replenish moisture and nutrients, as well as remove product build up.

Here are the key ingredients and their properties:

Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Contains naturally occurring vitamins and minerals which act as antioxidants protecting hair and skin from damaging free radicals.

Vitamin E: Aides in hair’s natural ability to repair damage, an essential step in the process of strengthening the follicle that allows hair to grow long and healthy.

Keratin: Replenishes lost keratin in damaged hair, helping to strengthen and repair hair.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil: A healthy scalp means healthy hair. This oil works for all hair types because the oil works on the hair roots/follicles and not the hair itself to moisturize, thicken, strengthen and increase hair growth. It increases blood flow to the scalp, supplying valuable nutrients to hair follicles. Jamaican Black Castor Oil will also prevent hair breakages, dandruff, eczema and dry, itchy scalp.

Having used the product, I can tell you that it does smell divine, and has a very thin pearly white liquid consistency. The shampoo does foam up a lot, which I like, and definitely leaves my hair feeling smoother and replenished with moisture. At a cost of AED 32, for a bottle of 400 ml, it is a very cost effective product too. I have been really enjoying using this product over all.

The Palmer’s Olive Oil Formula Leave in Conditioner

The Palmer’s Olive Oil Leave in Conditioner comes as an instant spray-on product to be used on damp hair once you are out of the shower, having washed your hair with the Olive Oil Smoothing Shampoo. Due to it being a spray on product, the conditioner also doubles up as a detangler and as a heat protectant spray.

The conditioner is formulated with extra virgin olive oil for highest concentration of vitamins and anti-oxidants, as well as helping smooth and repair rough, ragged hair strands for a deep, rich shine. The conditioner contains all of the key ingredients found in the Smoothing Shampoo as stated above such as Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Vitamin E, Keratin and Jamaican Black Castor Oil. This 250 ml bottle also costs AED 32, but will of course last you a very long time as it is a spray product.

As promising as the product sounds, unfortunately I do not see myself using this product only because of my lifestyle and hair care routine. Since I am a Hijabi, I do not particularly need my hair to be styled or protected from heat damage if I was using hair straighteners or curlers. I am not a fan of spraying on products to my hair after my shower, and felt that though this product tamed my hair frizz, I simply prefer using a conditioner straight after my shampoo to smoothen.

However, this is simply my personal opinion due to my lifestyle and hair care choices, but for those wishing to style their hair to wear out, I can see why this product would be a great hit for you. Therefore, I much prefer the Smoothing Shampoo for daily use as opposed to the Leave in Conditioner, but absolutely love the enriched Olive Oil formula ingredients that both offer.

Both these products can be bought from selected Boots stores in Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Mirdiff City Centre, Diera City Centre, Al Barsha and Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi, for AED 32.

I got these products too to review and I quite liked them. I particularly liked the leave-in conditioner but that’s because I style my hair when I head out .
