My First Trimester…

The gestation period. What a wonder! Like the majority, I was absolutely dreading the side effects that came along with growing a little human, including all the pains and aches. However, I was thankfully blessed with a normal and considerably easy pregnancy! I truly could not have asked for a better 9 months, and I know I am one of the very lucky few to think that!

By the time I found out I was pregnant (at 11 weeks), the first trimester was almost over and so was the duration that Morning Sickness is supposed to normally last. Apart for being sick prior to finding out I was pregnant, I was only sick on one more occasion at an evening barbecue, just before the meal was served.

For the rest of my first trimester, until I started sporting a bulging tummy, there were moments when I would simply forget that I was pregnant! This used to slightly disturb me because I did not want to do anything silly to put my baby in danger. Thankfully, one side effect of pregnancy was constantly there throughout as a reminder even in the late hours of the night: Peeing. Gosh, my bladder was unstoppable. Now see, all my life, I have been a great sleeper. Once my eyes are shut, they will only open the next morning. However, pregnancy changed that. I was forcefully woken up by my need to run to the toilets to pee every couple of hours. Having read the risks of UTI ( Urinary Tract Infection), I was also drinking gallons of water, so I suppose that didn’t really help the whole peeing-so-much situation.

Another horrific thing about pregnancy comes in the form of Incontinence. This is when a little pee would come out if I laughed too hard, coughed or BREATHED! Pantyliners were my best friend and they made me feel safe and secure. I know I know, the answer to that is Kegle exercises, but I just kept forgetting to do those! On the odd occasion that I did remember, I would religiously do them for a couple of days and always wonder whether I was doing them correctly. This means the whole incontinence thing was all my fault of course. So, pregnant ladies, please just do your kegels, or feel the wrath of your decision trickling down your legs.

Thankfully, this issue blowed over once I had given birth and my bladder went back to normal…apart from that one time when I was jumping on the trampoline with my 2 month old baby….*cringe*

This was a fun piece to read. Really got me lol. I thankfully did not experience the peeing scenario, so this was funny to me 🙂
