Family Splash at Legoland Water Park Dubai…

Having experienced Legoland Dubai at the end of last year, we were very excited to venture back but this time to the recently opened Legoland Water Park! Located in Dubai Parks and Resorts, we arrived at 11 am and ran in with enthusiasm. Master Z was itching to get into the water and mesmerised by the scale of what he saw. We all got changed into our swimming gear and began to explore the wide range of rides and areas on offer at the water park.

Just to note, lockers are provided on rent, starting from AED 45 per locker. They are quite tiny in size, so we only kept our bare valuables in there, whilst taking the rest with us.

Bearing in mind that winter here still means sunshine and sweating during the mid-day, temperatures on the day were rather chilly (for Dubai standards, not Europe of course!) with temperatures in the late teens. Thankfully, the water in almost all the areas and rides was luke warm and temperature regulated. This meant that you only felt a chill when getting out of the water, but the Dubai sunshine soon dried us off.

As you enter the park, you are met with a huge Water Jungle, with water being sprayed from right, left and everywhere! Master Z didn’t seem too keen when his face kept getting sprayed so we first headed to the Build-A-Raft-River, which essentially “does what it says on the tin”! The “river” snakes around half of the water park and you can lay inside your own raft as the tide keeps you moving. The great part is you could make your very own Lego Raft by building blocks on the raft itself with the Lego blocks that floated along in the river.

Tip: Use one of the longer Lego pieces to steer your raft with. You’ll thank me later.

The Duplo Splash Safari was our next stop, which includes a toddler play area including mini slides, and these were thoroughly enjoyed by Master Z as well as my niece, Baby A. The water is warm and shallow, along with plenty of life guards dotted around to ensure your child is playing safely.

Services:

Legoland Water Park includes a huge array of important services. As well as lockers, changing rooms are huge, clean and include showers too. There are also prayer rooms for both genders, which came to good use during the important Jummah Prayers since we visited on a Friday. Only issue was the the water with which we did Wudhu was ICE COLD! Not so temperature controlled there unfortunately.

Further inside the park, there is a Baby Room, including a small play table with Lego, sofas, and a small kitchen too to help with heating baby food etc, which is very thoughtful. Cabanas can be rented for the day, though there are plenty of sun loungers throughout the park too. There is also a First Aid room, which we tried and tested because Master Z managed to get a bruise whilst excitedly running up some stairs. The service from the nurse was efficient and endearing towards a very pitiful Master Z.

Food:

The park includes two restaurants with reasonably priced fast food.  There is also comfortable outdoor seating area surrounding the restaurants.

Age/ Height Restriction:

All rides and slides do have age or height restrictions, and so for Master Z, the areas he could access were the Duplo Splash Safari, Build-A-Raft-River and the child friendly Junior Joker area in the Wave Pool as well as the shallow side of the wave pool itself. To be honest, these were enough to keep him entertained throughout the day. Height specific life jackets are also provided on rides such as Build-A-Raft-River to ensure children’s safety.

Unfortunately, Master Z came to the realisation that his shorts were getting rather “wet” as soon as he was out of the water and thus did not want to go back in. I must admit, I panicked a little and thought, now what?! We are in a WATER Park for God’s sake! We ventured to the back of the park and just before the Lego Wave Pool, HALLELUJAH! The Build-A-Boat came to my rescue, where children can build their own Lego boats and then race them downstream. And the great thing, no swimming shorts are harmed or made wet in the process! Yipee! So there you go, if you too come across any water-related toddler tantrums,  this activity is a great back up and sure to keep them entertained.

This beauty entertained Master Z for long enough for Mummy and Daddy to sneak off to the big slides. (Don’t worry, he was being watched over by family!) Myself and Mr Z went on a couple of twisty turny water slides, namely the Splash N Swirl and the Lego Slide Racers, that made me loose my voice from the sheer amount of screaming I did, but the adrenaline rush was insanely amazing! I’m pretty sure the last time I went on such fast paced rides were during my mid teens, so this was highly refreshing to say the least! The Red Rush is also a great one to go on with your whole family, and not quite as fast as the above mentioned slides.

Would I recommend it?

Overall, we had such a great family day out, and I would definitely recommend it if you are looking to take advantage of the Dubai Winter season with your family. I do recommend that you ensure there is someone to look after your children so that you as adults can also enjoy the big slides because they must be experienced! Priced at AED 240 per person for a full day admission is a hefty cost (Children under the age of 3 enter Free) but there is a good variety of rides and slides, as well as affordable restaurants inside. Though the Best Value Ticket of AED 395 allows you access to both Legoland Dubai and Legoland Water Park, I don’t think there are enough hours in the day to successfully visit both, and nor the energy, so it’s best to visit one at a time.

Though it is a little chilly when getting out the water, I think winter is definitely the best time to visit since the entire park is outdoors and we know what the Dubai summer heat is capable of doing to us. Also, since it has only recently launched, it is pretty quiet so now is definitely the best time to visit the Water Park before it gains momentum.

I am sure that if you were to visit, you will leave Legoland Water Park with great family memories just as we did. I think I personally like it much more than the Legoland Dubai theme park itself, because it was more suited to Master Z. Click here to read about our experience at Legoland Dubai.

Sounds great! We’ve only been to the one water park so might have to add this to our list before it gets too hot!
