Big Breakfast Treats at Fümè, Pier 7- Review…

Earlier this week we decided to check out the newly launched Big Breakfast Treats Menu by Fümè down at Pier 7, Dubai Marina. The entrance in to the restaurant is through Marina Mall, and as we entered the restaurant, it was like being transported to a different era. The interior is stunning, rough and eclectic.

I adored the minute details such as having hangers attached to all the menus, and a collection of gorgeous tea pots, as well as a cork board full of ancient photographs, each picture holding a very important story or memory within it, I am sure. The most stunning however was the view of Marina and boats on one whole side of the restaurant, divided by vertical grills, and allowing natural light to seep in to the restaurant, without the heat and glare of the summer sun. And of course, not forgetting the rustic copper light shades. How can one not instantly fall in love with this place?

After Ooh-ing and Aah-ing at the menu for much too long, we eventually decided to go with The Fümè Pan for Mr Z, a Beach Board for myself, and an Omelette for Baby Z. We also opted for the Dubai Mango Mash and English Breakfast Tea alongside our breakfast meal.

The Fümè Pan, priced AED 78, included two fried eggs, hash brown, mushrooms, homemade veal and chicken sausage, smoked veal bacon, slow roasted tomatoes with baked beans and sourdough bread. It is not a breakfast for the lighthearted. Though it was Mr Z’s order, I managed to steal a few bites too, and can I just tell you how juicy and delicious both the mushroom and tomato was.

The Beach Board, priced AED 79, that I had chosen came including house smoked salmon, bresaola, chorizo, stracciatella, tomato salad, basil pesto, guacamole, soft boiled egg and sourdough bread. Again, the portions are very filling and the dips were delicious. Of all the meats, the bresaola was my favourite, and because I am not too keen on the rawness of smoked salmon, I asked the chef to cook it, which he did and I was able to enjoy it thereafter.

Baby Z’s omelette went down a treat too, though the portion was too big for him to complete. The Mango Mash was the perfect refreshing drink for a breakfast. In fact, it was so good, we had to order another!

Once our breakfast plates were cleared, we were recommended to try out the Rainbow Bagel. What harm can it possibly do, I thought, picturing a simple yet colourful bagel in my mind. Well, as soon as I saw the enormous size, I knew this was probably not the best choices to have made after such a hugely filling and delicious breakfast.

Nonetheless, I can not deny myself anything sweet, and Mr Z, Baby Z and I dug in. The meringue sticks, strawberry sauce and whipped cream were full of sweetness, and the chewy bagel was an odd contrasting feeling to bite into. The colours were a delight, and though it made for the perfect guilty pleasure of desserts, alas, we could not finish it. My only qualm is that the dessert was served on tissue, which Mr Z managed to eat accidentally as the whipped cream melted with the tissue at the bottom, so perhaps it is better served without the tissue paper at the bottom.

Overall, the breakfast, which runs every day from 9 am to 12 pm, is one not to be missed, and especially the Fümè Pan, is highly recommended if you are looking for a hearty start to the day. The views accompanying your meal are just as lovely, and I am sure I will be back to try out more of their popular cuisine.
